The building is quirky (elevator at one end, ramps at the other) but lovely. I am not sure what I expected but Topnotch was better than anticipated. I am confident your efforts will fall on sympathetic ears and check books. If it means levying an increase on the "price of admission", then level with your consumer to tell us why. I challenge Topnotch to reform this harmful practice and find an innovative path to an environmentally sustainable solution. Even if they make it to the recycling plant, it won't make a dent in the deluge of cups to follow. I expect to drink out of VOC-free, reusable, WASHABLE vessels-not flimsy sippy cups that we all know are going to end up in the trash. I expect an institution that leads in the fight against pollution and practices sustainability like a religion. As a Vermonter I expect better of a Vermont-based business. Is it too much to ask that the vessel make an effort to match its contents? Most importantly, however, and most troubling, is that, as I looked around the pool area, all I could see was an avalanche of plastic cups, intended to be recycled, but destined to end up in a landfill or the ocean along with all our other refuse. What if we had ordered the $125.00 bottle of Veuve Cliquot? Would it have arrived in sippy cups, too? There are a myriad of attractive, sturdy, plastic reusable champagne flutes on the market. While I understand the policy, I am still appalled at the presentation. When I asked why, our sever informed us that there is a no-glass rule in the pool area. A few minutes later, a tray of four, recyclable plastic cups arrived with a bubbly liquid I can only assume was the Cava we selected as I was not given the opportunity to see the actual bottle. After navigating the menu, and providing the server with a crash course in the the difference between Champagne, Prosecco, and Cava, we decided on the Cava. We were subsequently informed by our server, that the bar was out of our selected bubbly, and would we like to order another. We situated ourselves on chairs in the indoor pool area and ordered some Champagne. As the temperatures outside have dipped to well below zero, this seems the perfect place to be. I live in Stowe, and have chosen to bring three girlfriends, who are visiting from NYC, for a day of spa treatments and general relaxation poolside. I wish for my observations to be taken as constructive criticism. Please allow me to preface this review by stating that I really like Topnotch Resort and Spa.
